According to the 2016 Australian Bureau of Statistics, Eumundi has a population of 2200. With approximately 1.6 million visitors per year, Eumundi's population bursts at the seams during peak times, especially during Wednesday and Saturday market days.
Eumundi has a vibrant, colourful and vibe as do the 600 stallholders - it's peace, sustainability and experience to be had.

| Colourful piano along Memorial Drive Eumundi |
The Eumundi Market is eclectic, colourful, bohemian and huge. If you're into markets, it's a place to visit - I try to, at least once a year.
Fresh produce and food stalls are stocked and ready for the influx of visitors, gorgeous bunches of fresh-cut flowers can be bought if you're early enough, there's a huge selection of arts and craft, jewellery and fashion, health and wellbeing products, psychic readings, and more.
Once I arrive at the markets you'll find me chowing down on knackwurst with sauerkraut and a generous squirt of mustard, sampling various flat whites with soy and trying to look cool.
If you can't find me wandering around the many market stalls, head towards the live music, you'll probably find me foot-tapping to the music under a shady tree.

Even when it's quiet Eumundi remains colourful and eclectic and worth the trip even if only for a flat white with soy.
There was barely a person strolling along this side of Memorial Drive but it was early and no doubt the visitors would be arriving soon.
Because Eumundi is often buzzing with people I rarely take photographs (family excepted). Early Sunday morning was the perfect opportunity to snap a few stores along Eumundi's Memorial Drive.
By the way, I'd upload more images (I took a few) however Blogger is limited with how images can be displayed 😔

| A magnificent John Murray mural |
Down the side of the Bakehouse wall are these fabulous paintings by Lightning Ridge artist John Murray.
His works are wonderful and include the wall of the famous Hosier Lane Melbourne, Lightning Ridge - of course, Fitzroy Melbourne, Parkes NSW, and other places.

I was so taken by his work I now follow him on Instagram - @mortmurray if you're also interested.
There's a street art trail here which I missed but hey, there's always the next trip where I'll again mingle with the artisans, tourists and locals, and drink in that fabulous vibe I love, that is Eumundi.
Not into markets? Eumundi is still a pretty, colourful town to visit, plus Noosa is just 'up the road' - Sunday drive win/win.
Until next post, it's time for a flat white with soy 😁

wow i love that street art. i've started following him on IG too. we haven't been to eumundi for many a long day. it was quite a small market when we used to go years ago. mainly fruit and veg and bread etc. must head there again one day soon. fabulous bookstore up there too. cheers sherry
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry, I adore these markets. Even on a tropical rainy day where I hop from one umbrella to the other. I usually go up just before Christmas for unique gifts. It's changed a lot in the past 20 years and one day I'll even go for a camel ride xo
